Finally we had waves. I have had the Doppelganger over a month and yesterday was the first opportunity for me to catch some waves.
I am totally stoked on this board. The surf conditions were waist to chest and mostly, quickly closing out due to the ESE swell. I weigh 188lbs so I'm used to sinking boards in the 6'5" range but, as we discussed, the additional width and thickness of this board floated me adequately. The paddle-ability of this board is great. It moves through the water and from the first drop in it felt comfortable to mount, foot placement was on the money each time. Unlike my 7'2" Rusty, which is like surfing a bar of soap, the Doppelganger was very stable on entry. On the shoulder of the wave this board really moves in a way that can only be described as dynamic. Floaters are a snap. I'm looking forward to the S swell and 20 knot W wind to tuck her up in the green room.
I am very pleased with this board and I'm looking forward to hurricane season.
